·Honestly I would go with the 8" contact wheel on a coote I had the 10" wheel on mine but the coote is direct drive off of the large wheel so the larger the wheel the faster the belt will be moving Running the belt a bit slower is better for control

·Of the ready made grinders under $500 you are looking at the Grizzly If you have a source of a good 2nd hand motor and would possibly consider going over a little bit there is the Coote though you might be able to keep it under $500 if you got the 2X48 model
